Flying high with Lufthansa

Lufthansa launched their first inaugural flight from Munich to Toronto. Bold Magazine was invited to be a part of this significant milestone.

On 5 June, a water salute greeted Lufthansa’s Boeing A330-300 as it landed at Toronto’s Pearson airport. The warm welcome marked Lufthansa’s first inaugural flight from Munich to Toronto, a significant milestone for the airline’s increasing access to more than 450 destinations worldwide.

Lufthansa inaugural Munich Toronto

“Lufthansa is very pleased to offer Canada’s largest city access to a second German destination, increasing access to more than 450 destinations in 118 countries,” Hans DeHaan, Director, Lufthansa Group Canada said. “This reflects Lufthansa’s commitment to the Canadian market and the high level of demand we are seeing here,” he added.

There are few airlines that can blend comfort and long haul flights as seamlessly as Lufthansa. From the dazzling water salute, we were whizzed away to experience much of Lufthansa’s ambience that Torontonians can enjoy during their 8 hours flight to Munich.

In-flight food

Lufthansa wines

When it comes to food, Lufthansa does not skim.

The appetizers reserved for first class and business class passengers are scrumptious; from the salmon wrapped in rice paper, stuffed peppers with cream cheese, and our absolute favourite, the fresh lobster served over mangoes.

Accompanying these appetizers are generous platters of varied cheese selection that pairs well with Lufthansa’s premium wines. Caipirinha, the famous Brazilian cocktail, will be served onboard over the upcoming weeks as tribute to the FIFA World Cup.

Melanie Mpetsios, Lufthansa’s supervisor, shared that in-flight meals change routinely depending on the route and season, and new meals are delicately crafted every month to ensure a unique gastronomic experience.

First and Business Class

Stellar comfort makes a difference during long-haul flights and Lufthansa sees to it.

The airline’s revamped First and Business Class cabins are fitted with intuitive controls, additional storage space and an innovative entertainment system with large 15” screen. The seats can be converted into comfortable, fully flat beds at just a push of a button.

Sports lovers will be glad to learn that Lufthansa is the only airline that offers Live TV sports coverage onboard, a perfect accompaniment to that caipirinha, if we must say so!

Bookings for the new Toronto to Munich non-stop service are now available via Lufthansa’s official site at www.LH.com or through the Lufthansa call centre by phoning 1 (800) 563-5954.
